I came in with the same basic idea -- helping each other out for the benefit of the town. But as you'll soon learn, the Good Old Boys will firmly tramp down any attempt to make the town better unless they or their friends and families can benefit. Don't waste your energy. All you'll get is frustration and heartache. The powers that be in this town want complete control forever -- and they don't want outsiders helping the town in any way, shape, or form. I've been here twelve years and could tell you stories that would prove my point and make you sick. But if you prefer to try, be my guest. They're always looking for new blood to put down. Better you than me. Oh, and as an update, I wrote this post back in 2004. Nearly <em>five full years</em> have passed and that lot is still empty, still a dust bowl on windy days. All I have is fond memories of the shady lot with horse corrals and friendly cowboys who worked there. Nice thought, Mike.
