Well, I’m an idiot. But some of us knew that already.
Although I faithfully backed up the database that makes up the article content for wickenburg-az.com, I didn’t back up the theme files and other content for the site. So when the hard disk crashed on the afternoon of Friday, February 17, 2006, I lost the look and feel of the site.
I’m now rebuilding that, pretty much from scratch. Stay tuned and keep checking in. You might find it interesting to see how wickenburg-az.com‘s appearance changes throughout the day over the next few days.
February 26, 2006 update:
I’m just about finished with the interface reinstallations. I think the only thing left is to get the SaguaroCam image back online (you’re seeing an old image now) and restore the Classified Ads and Discussion forums. I spent all day yesterday and this morning from about 7 AM to 12 noon working on it. Although I ran into a lot of problems yesterday, today went smoothly.
Next week, I’ll begin adding back all the photos that were on the site. That will take some doing and I’ll probably spend about an hour a day on the task until it’s done.
Thanks to everyone for their patience while we get back up and runnning.
And no, this won’t happen again. One of the first things I installed yesterday was a backup hard disk with software. All of the Flying M Productions Web sites will be backed up in their entirety every single day to at least two places. Heck, I have better things to do with my time than rebuild Web sites lost due to my own stupidity.
