The other day, I stopped by a new feed and tack store in town, Serenity Farms Feed & Tack. This business, which is located on the Phoenix Highway south of town, offers a wide variety of horse feed and care products, including hay, saddle blankets, fly control products, and tack.
Originally located in Laveen, Serenity Farms is owned and operated by Matthew Bean. He was working the counter when we visited and gave us a friendly greeting. He filled us in on his products, including his source of hay, and made us feel welcome.
Most non-feed products are organized on shelves in one room of the shop’s metal building. There’s a full line of horse care products, as well as saddles and other tack. There are also products for dogs, cats, and birds.
The bulding’s other room is storage for bagged feeds. Not only does Serenity Farms stock horse feeds, but I saw bagged feeds for livestock, chickens, pigs, and dogs, too.
Hay storage is outside, under a heavy-duty metal cover to protect it from the rain. Serenity sells full-sized bales weighing 100 lbs.
Prices at Serenity are reasonable and competitive. I bought two nice Navajo-style saddle blankets, which I plan to use as rugs in my vacation cabin, for less than $9 each. Even hay prices were within reason — anyone with a horse can tell you how expensive it is to feed them these days.
It’s good to see another reliable source of feed here in Wickenburg. I wish Matthew and his crew the best of luck.
