This year's crop (2008) is quite poor, and the picking is slim. Not sure what variety of green apples we managed to scrounge off the trees, but they weren't ripe or the least bit sweet. And when we had them weighed at the checkout stand, we were aghast at the total price of $60 for the 40 pounds of pears and apples we had picked. I think the high heat (102 degrees!) had stewed our brains somewhat by that time, and so we doled out the money without even realizing we had been ripped off.
