Wickenburg-based Flying M Air, a helicopter tour and charter company, is featured in the May 2009 issue of Arizona Highways magazine. The 10-page article, “A Better View,” was written by Keridwen Cornelius and features amazing aerial photography by Adriel Heisey.
Flying M Air has been based at Wickenburg airport since the company started business in 2001, when it began offering helicopter rides and tours in a two-seat Robinson R22 helicopter. In those days, most business was local, for aerial photography and survey work. The little helicopter also appeared at several outdoor events to offer inexpensive, short helicopter rides.

The Old Livery Mercantile is located at the intersection of Tegner and Apache Streets in downtown Wickenburg. The Committee to Stop Irresponsible Development needs 231 signatures to bring Ordinance 972-R to a vote of the people. This ordinance allows a zoning change that would put 34 homes on a block of land approximately 3,500 feet from the northeast end of Wickenburg Airport’s Runway. (See photo.)

If you haven’t voted yet on our Ethics Policy Poll, now is the time to do it. You can find the poll in the sidebar of the Home Page until December 3. After that, voting will be closed but the results will be available on the Polls Archive page.
The poll turned out to be very timely. Just this past week, the Town Council needed to revote on an issue when it was “discovered” that the Mayor had a conflict of interest. If Wickenburg had an Ethics Policy with proper disclosure requirements, the conflict would have been apparent before the vote …

We’re looking for some fresh “header” photos. Those are the photos that appear randomly at the top of each page of wickenburg-az.com.
To be considered, photos must meet the following criteria:
Size: 741 pixel wide x 166 pixels tall
File Format: JPG preferred
Subject matter: Anything Wickenburg-related. Please, no people.
Layout: The top right corner of the photo must have a relatively plain, light-colored background. This is so text that appears over it can be clearly read.
Accepted photos will be placed in the header image rotation with the photographer’s name in the photo credit (if desired).
