Throughout the month of December, we’ll be showcasing photographs submitted by wickenburg-az.com readers. We encourage Wickenburg residents and visitors to share their images. Photos can be of any subject, as long as it shows off some aspect of life in Wickenburg. Photos will appear on the home page and then be archived in the Photo Tours pages.

Please submit photos in JPG or PNG format using our Contact form. Photo file size cannot exceed 1MB; if your photo is larger, use your image editing software to downsize it. (Hint: Reduce the resolution to 72 dpi and/or the photo size to no wider or taller than 8 inches.) Be sure to include your full name and e-mail address when submitting your photo. Also include a summary of at least 50 words to describe the photo, where it was taken, and what it depicts.

The fine print: By submitting a photo you give us permission to display it on the site. We reserve the right to exclude images we deem inappropriate for publication on the site.

Over the next few weeks, the site will be completely reworked in a new format. Although all content should be accessible during this time, you may get the occasional error messages while accessing features. Please feel free to post a comment on this post to share problems you find; the ones that are reported will get attention first.

Also, we’ll need some new header images for the site. If you have any panoramic photos of the area that you’d like to share, please use the Contact Us link to let us know.

The calendar is accessible from two places on this site:

• In the navigation sidebar’s Read These First! area, you’ll find a link to the calendar. Click the link to open a new browser page with the calendar inside it. You can use buttons on the calendar to switch between day, week, and month views and move forward or backward through dates. Clicking an item may display additional information about it.
• Farther down in the navigation sidebar’s Upcoming Events area, you’ll find a list of the next five scheduled events. If no date appears for the first event, that means it’s today. If two or more events are scheduled for the same day, the date will only appear for the first event that day. You can also find anotehr link to the interactive calendar at the bottom of this area.

Our Calendar of Events lists only those events we’ve been notified about. This is all the information we have about these events. We do not have any information about any event that is not listed. Do not contact the Webmaster with questions about any event — she cannot help you.

If you want to list your organization’s upcoming events, send details that include the dates, times, event names, locations, and, if available, a Web link to more information. You can use the Contact Us button at the top of any page to get this information to us.

I also want to point out that our new site format makes it possible to display much larger photos than before. So while older posts have decidedly small images, all new posts — including those that contain only photos — will have images up to 504 pixels wide (that’s 7 inches at 72 dpi).

I’d like to encourage other Wickenburg shutterbugs to submit their photos for inclusion on the site. Please use the form on the Contact Us page to let me know if you have photos to share. I’ll provide an e-mail address you can e-mail them to, along with complete captions that describe the images.
